A learner’s permit is the first step toward getting a driver’s license. It allows you to practice driving under supervision before taking the road test.
In Michigan, this is officially called a Level 1 License under the Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) system.
The GDL system helps new drivers gain experience before getting a full license. It has 3 levels:
Level 1 License (Learner’s Permit): Start practicing with supervision
Level 2 License (Intermediate): You can drive alone but with some restrictions
Level 3 License (Full License): No restrictions
To apply, you must:
✅ Be at least 14 years and 8 months old
✅ Have your parent’s or guardian’s permission (if under 18)
✅ Enroll in or complete Segment 1 Driver Education (if under 18)
✅ Pass a vision test and health screening
✅ Show required identity documents

Proof of legal presence in the U.S. (e.g., birth certificate, green card, or valid visa)
Social Security number (or letter of ineligibility)

GDL বা Graduated Driver Licensing হলো ধাপে ধাপে লাইসেন্স দেওয়ার ব্যবস্থা। নতুন ড্রাইভারদের ধীরে ধীরে অভিজ্ঞ করে তোলা হয়।
3টি ধাপ আছে:
Level 1 License (লার্নার পারমিট): শুধুমাত্র তত্ত্বাবধানে চালানো যায়
Level 2 License (ইন্টারমিডিয়েট): একা চালানো যায়, কিছু নিয়ম মানতে হয়
Level 3 License (পূর্ণ লাইসেন্স): সব ধরণের নিয়ন্ত্রণমুক্ত
লার্নার পারমিটের জন্য আবেদন করতে হলে:
